I’m thinking of starting a blogging series. Well, this might be the only post in it, but still. BTW, I was thinking of posting this on April 1, but decided to wait because this is for real.
In my local Menard’s there’s this product:
Oh, OK. This is just another one of those knit funny feeling shirts that soccer players wear, right? Wrong. The deal is that you should be able to hang it around your neck, and you will be able to stretch further, to balance better, to swing a golf club harder, and pick up more pounds of potatoes than ever. Just hang it around your neck.
Well, if you see this at your Menards or other store, please comment, so people who see this in the future actually believe me. And for those who haven’t seen it, there might be a display of them at your local Menards, perhaps even with a video that describes this wonderful, extremely helpful, new and exciting, body-building…hoax. (They don’t think it is, but really, come on.)
Why is it in the Crafting Journal, you ask?
Because I’m thinking I’m going to make a wallet out of the material. To help balance our budget and stretch our dollars.

I saw this too when we were in your Menards. I was thinking about the same thing as you…you’ve got to be kidding. It would be a great idea to make a wallet out of this material – if it only worked.

OK, there’s a Menards just a mile from home… super convenient. I admit to a weakness for end-of-aisle displays. On Saturday the T-shirts were on sale for $7.99 [the polo was $12.99 I think]. I wanted to see how it compared to Under Armour, Nike, etc. It’s your basic wicking shirt. We’ll have to wait and see how it survives.
The tag attached to the shirt had the same over-the-top copy as the Menards display sign:
“E2 Sport Balance – Powered by ‘E2 Technology’ – Increases Balance, Strength, Endurance, Flexibility, Range of Motion, Focus.”
“Feel the instant effects of E2 SPORT. It Works!”
Best part on the tag were the diagrams showing “before and after” endurance tests — the test subject stands in full sunlight with arm extended to the side; another person pushes down on their arm, while subject attempts to the resist downward pressure. [If you used weights instead of an assistant, it would look like this:
A tough challenge …until you put on the E2 shirt. Now with “Earth Energy Powered Sportswear” magically you can hold it:
“In Sun with E2 SPORT (minimum 5 minutes)”
I tried the arm extension, holding a full coffee cup, for a full 30 seconds before I got bored with it.
That’s longer than I did it, for sure. :)
Menards isn’t the only store peddling these shirts. Check out the 84Lumber ad at http://84logoshop.sap-shop.com/p-114-e2-tech-polo-3000.aspx. It contains a bit more info on the E2 technology. Can’t find any other E2 info on the Web. Maybe this is just breaking news and hasn’t hit the mainstream retail market yet.
Or perhaps good businessmen and women just know how likely it is to be a phony, and would rather not embarrass themselves too badly by selling it.
I hope it never does–humankind should know better.
Just got one…had to! A burgundy polo…for 10 bucks why not? I don’t feel any different yet but I’ll letcha know!
I just found these in the Menard’s advertisement in our local paper. Went to do a bit of searching on the internet to find out what it is supposed to do and how it might theoretically work, and stumbled across this. What absolute nonsense.

Just bought some at Menards for 4.99…now I can juggle-I never could before.
That is very interesting…However, because of my stipulations against superstition and my knowledge of logic and scientific reasons, I see no reason to credit their statements. They do not take the time or make an effort to explain to us exactly why it works. Also, there is such a thing as “the power of suggestion”. This is an important concept and is why scientific experiments are usually blind experiments–our brain is incredible and can automatically bias us to something that may be very foolish.
I just said that just a few days in the past!!!
I have read the above comments, and no one (including the manufacturer) even asked or commented on what E2 Technology is:
E2 stands for Electron Energized and that is what the E2 Technology™ does, it adds electrons to the water through electrical restructuring. This creates alkalized water and makes it a powerful antioxidant that hydrates the body very well on a cellular level. The negative ionization can be measured in millivolts (mV) by an Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) meter.
Now, can a shirt do this, and does this even help? Not much evidence, or scientific data, but I saw the shirt for $4.99 and got one. I benched 300 # on my 50th birthday, (but that was before the shirt). I will try now and let you know!!!

I bought one a while ago. Now being a fairly intelligent and not a sucker for every sales pitch, I purchased one just because it felt softer than regular t caret-shirts. I must say I dont care about increased performance, but it is one of the most comfortable shirts I have worn. Great for playing golf in. Would purchase more if I could find them (sold out).
I have 4 of the t-shirts, my favorites by far. I wish I could find more of them
